21st Annual Board Member Seminar
Massingham & Associates Management, Inc. held their 21st Annual Board Member Seminar on Saturday, March 17, 2007. The annual seminar is a chance for Board members to come and hear experts speak on hot topics in homeowners associations. In addition to a trade show where they get to interact with several vendors (43 different booths this year), Massingham also provides a continental breakfast and sit-down lunch. Managers and Administrative Assistants of Massingham also attend the seminar as it is a great way to refresh our own education of the industry topics and interact with our Board members.
This year was Massingham’s largest Board member attendance, with 170 Board members joining us to become educated on the latest and greatest news in the industry. Each year at the seminar there is also a trade show with many of the vendors that we use at our communities as well as ones that we would like to learn more about. The trade show gives Board members an opportunity to learn about all the different services that these vendors provide. The vendors also provide Board members a chance to win raffles at each of their booths. Since the seminar was held on St. Patrick’s Day, one of the vendors in attendance dressed in a kilt and provided all of us with the beautiful sound of the bagpipes.
This year’s sessions included topics such as Policy Governance® and the Carver Model, managing large projects, maintenance manuals, and new California laws such as towing. Board members have told us that this was one of the best seminars they have attended and that the information was very educational!
Massingham plans this seminar months in advance and it just gets better and better! We are anxious for next year’s seminar and hope that we have an even better turnout than this year!!
